The naked truth on egyptian cotton sheets – how to spot a fake

Sheet prize

Prior to launching Bed Love Home, I spent four years researching Egyptian cotton and speaking to manufactures around the world.  During that process I discovered three key ways to spot a fake.

Thread count is the name of the game – the higher the thread count, the better quality the sheets. Products that are advertised as 1000 to 1500 thread count should feel thick to the touch.

Genuine Egyptian cotton should have a sheen to it. If the sheets appear dull, the cotton fibres are most likely of a lower quality and won’t have the durability of the real thing.

Look for quality stitching. If the sheets are not pin-tucked around the edges, then shortcuts have been taken in the manufacturing process which will effect the sheet’s durability and appearance.

If the sheets fulfill these three criteria, you can be confident you’re buying real Egyptian cotton sheets that will retain their luxurious, five-star feel for years.  You can be rest assured of authenticity at Bed Love Home.
